Things That’ll Be Closer Than The CU Buffs’ Next 2 Games…

The Harlem Globetrotters’ next match-up with the Washington Generals.

Michael Strahan’s two front teeth.

The rematch of this fight…

These are all things that will be closer than the score of the Colorado Buffaloes next two games. The Buffs face the 10th-ranked USC Trojans this Saturday and the third-ranked Oregon Ducks next weekend.  The Trojans have pre-season Heisman favorite Matt Barkley and a plethora of speedy skill players. The Ducks have one of the top, if not the top, offenses in the nation and just dropped 43 points on ASU last night…in the first half!

You may say, “Well Derek, that’s why they play the game. CU can’t be THAT bad.” Well, here’s a look of how ugly it’s gotten in Boulder:

  • CU is 1-5 this season with their only win coming against 2-5 Wazzu. They had to convert a fourth down and goal to win the game.
  • The Buffs  gave up 30 points at home to Sacramento State and lost. This is an FCS team by the way.
  • CU ranks 100th in total offense and 112th in total defense.
  • Counting this season, the program has lost more than double the amount of games that they’ve won the last 5 years. The Buffs are a dazzling 17-38  during that span.

Given all of the above and the fact that USC is about a 41-point favorite I’m predicting a combined score of about 123-6 and scarce opportunities for Buff fans to do their classy chant.

What is your combined score prediction? Closest guess wins a No Coast Bias logo sticker.
