The Walloping Waldos?

U.S. Soccer unveiled its new home kit for both the men’s and women’s national teams on Monday. It is a very bold design based on a white jersey with large, red stripes (or a red jersey with large, white stripes, depending on how you view things…none of my business) and a blue collar. When I saw the first image I thought of a few things: America; the thirteen red and white stripes on the flag; victory. I almost started to cry out of happiness.

I say that I almost started to cry because I next thought that people would see it as a “Where’s Waldo” get-up.

Heck, even the blue shorts look like his blue jeans. All we need is for Clint Dempsey to start wearing a Petr Cech-esque head protector with red and white stripes and we will be set.

Is this a bad thing? No, it’s not. People have a hell of a time trying to find Waldo in the books, so shouldn’t the competition have a hell of time marking Donovan on the pitch. Yes! You know what, I’m going to put my foot down. Let’s rally behind these jerseys and cheer on the “Walloping Waldos” like never before!

You can order your very own jersey here.
