HATE. LOATHE. DESPISE.
However you want to say it, when I mention (insert player name here) these are the words that first come to mind. That, or a few expletives.
There are very few things in life that people are more passionate about than sports. Politics? Maybe. The Wire? Depending on who you ask, a resounding and annoying YES.
Sports brings you the most joy this side of having your first born (so I’ve been told), but it also brings you to some of the lowest depths of grief. Somewhere in the middle of this bliss and anguish is hate. Good old-fashioned hate. Hate towards that team in the wrong shade of red. Hate towards that coach with the southern drawl. Hate towards…that ONE player. That one player who you hated because he ALWAYS found a way to come out on top. The guy you hated because he was a massive whiner. That showboating loudmouth.
We Huskers can probably list off 10-15 players off the top of our head that we just flat out cannot stand – so I figured I’d reach out to my fellow Children of the Corn and put together my Grantland-inspired “Husker Bracket-O-Hate”.
The bracket and seeding below was based off my unofficial survey of Husker fans across various message boards, Facebook groups and Twitter. If someone you despise is not included in the bracket, leave a comment in the comments section. I’m sure I’ll be revising this list quite often.
Much like Grantland’s reasoning for separating out the regions like they did, I created regions for Texas Quarterbacks, OU, players from the Big XII North and players from the South. The seeding was based on both player and team votes.
