TFX started off strong with a great look at how these weeks will pan out. Robyn and I faced each other four times this week, including both games of the Monday night double-dip. Cumbee had to face himself, and Brian finally figured out which NFC South team he was cheering for.
The season began with my defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants of New Jersey going up against Brian’s suck-in-meaningful-games Cowboys. I lost, and that would set a trend as I had a 1-5 record through Sunday. Brian beat me again, and Cumbee started out 3-0.
After losing her opening game in unsurprising fashion (Cumbee’s Texans over the Dolphins), Robyn won four straight games (including two against yours truly). She got on track with the late Vick touchdown over Brian’s Browns (the team he got after his NFC South draft debacle that landed me the Panthers). Robyn used her Buccaneers (another NFC South team Brashaw tried to draft) to beat the Panthers. That was at the same time her 49ers were beating my Packers.
Sunday’s final game saw Brian and Cumbee tied with Robyn at four wins apiece. Cumbee breached protocol by cheering for the Broncos, and apparently the Steelers were disheartened by this, letting franken-neck beat them and putting Brashaw in the catbird seat (what does that really mean anyway?), headed into Robyn’s two Monday night match ups with me.
Robyn had a chance to win the week outright, taking an eight-point lead into week two. I had the chance to prevent this and I wanted it bad after the battle I’d had over the fan bonus (see below). My Ravens (that Robyn wanted so bad because she was an English major, and Baltimore was the only team named for a poem) drilled her Bengals, ensuring Brashaw at least a tie-for-the-week victory.
Then the stupid Chargers injured the Raiders’ long snapper and the wheels fell off. I fell asleep at halftime and didn’t find out the result until I got to work in the morning. I have never hated a girl more.
In other highlights, Cumbee became the first player to hit for the cycle, scoring exactly one victory over each competitor including himself.

The Win Bonus
Winning the week earned four bonus points. Robyn’s defeat of my Raiders ensured she and Brian were co-winners. Half of their combined wins came at my expense.
The Fan Bonus
Every other week fans are asked to decide a winner to a random (No Coast) Biased contest. The winner of that contest gets an additional four bonus points. So even though a player may have a rough week, the fans can keep them in the hunt by appreciating their savvy. This week, fans were asked to pick who they felt had the best draft.
Heading into Monday, Robyn and I were tied in the fan vote for four more bonus points. Points I desperately needed. Then Torsten Adair stepped in to vote. You’d think family ties would run strong. Then I remembered my uncle works for a book company and is a retired librarian and always cheers for the outsider. He didn’t even need to vote; I knew I was sunk. Robyn got one more vote, solidifying her victory of four more points. Had my uncle voted for me, I would have tied and gotten four points. Thanksgiving will be awkward.
The Totals
With the win results and the two bonuses this week, a total of 24 points were available. Here are your leaders.

Technically, I did not vote in the poll, as I did not click a radio button. (I follow the New York Times voting policy).
