Jordyn Wieber1 [Quick Hits] USA Gymnast Jordyn Wieber Fails to Qualify for Individual Finals

When you talk to people about the excitement for the Olympics, many people mention gymnastics as the competition they are most looking forward to. This year was no different and the USA women’s team is very strong and is expected to win team gold. On the individual side, Jordyn Wieber, who is the reigning world all-around champ, was expected to win compete for gold. However, she was beat out by two teammates, Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman. Olympic rules are that only two women per team can compete for the individual medals, so Wieber will be left out even though she finished 4th overall.

The big surprise of the two teammates that beat Jordyn Wieber out was Aly Raisman, who is seen seen as world class on the floor routine but not the overall gymnast that Wieber and Douglas are. Maybe Raisman will be a breakout star of the 2012 London Games or perhaps this team really is as strong as predicted. Hopefully Weiber can bounce back and help the USA bring home the team gold.
