prater [Quick Hits] Kyle Prater Ruled Eligible for Northwestern This Year

Six months ago the #1 rated receiver in the 2010 class announced that he wanted to leave USC after two years to play closer to home at Northwestern due to an illness in the family. The NCAA ruled that he could play right away for Northwestern this season.

“My family is very important to me,” Prater said in a news release, “so it means a lot for them to be nearby while I play football and earn my degree at Northwestern.” When Coach Pat Fitzgerald was asked about Prater he said: “Kyle has worked extremely hard to prepare himself for this season,” NU coach Pat Fitzgerald said. “It’s great that he will be rewarded for that effort.”

Northwestern will be a team to keep an eye on in the Big Ten. I won’t go so far to say they have a good chance to win the conference but with Kain Colter at quarterback and a legit #1 WR to go along with a solid receiving corps, they could play the spoiler role quite well.
