Notre Dame’s associate head coach and defensive coordinator Bob Diaco won the Frank Broyles Award on Tuesday of this week. The photo of him receiving his award last night, however, was actually that of Notre Dame Football Media Relations director, Brian Hardin.

This error quickly went viral on twitter with the Notre Dame masses hoping that any teams pursuing Bob Diaco will now pursue Brian Hardin instead.

The Broyles Award goes to the nation’s best assistant coach. “It’s a life-long dream for me,” Diaco said in an interview the award’s Twitter page linked to following the ceremony. “All I ever really wanted to be was a great servant to the players and a great servant to the head coach. And this award is specific in that it only is acknowledging that job well done. I sit here, I represent a fantastic job the offense did protecting the defense, a fantastic, spectacular defensive staff and a group of players that are second to none, so it’s an honor. I really sit here and just represent that.”

Cheers!
