We here at NCB are really excited about the start of B1G Ten play. League play starts off with a couple marque games, with Nebraska taking on Wisconsin and Michigan State versus Ohio State on the schedule this weekend. A few brave souls thought they would take a stab predicting how things will turn out.

Derek

Legends: Sparty – My heart wants to say the Huskers but my head says that the Sparty D will earn them a return trip to Indy. They also play the Huskers in East Lansing and their schedule isn’t as tough as Nebraska’s.

Leaders: Wisky – They look like a shell of their former selves but I just can’t live with myself if I picking Purdue.

B1G Champ: The game won’t be much to watch but the Spartans finally break through and make a BCS game.

O Player of the year: Braxton Miller followed closely by Le’veon Bell. I wouldn’t be shocked if someone out of left-field breaks out since this is such a down year in the B1G for offensive playmakers.

D Player of the year: Max Bullough/Will Gholston. It’s gotta be someone from the best D in the B1G.

Coach who will get canned: Kirk Ferentz. They can’t continue overpaying this guy for mediocre results right?

Bold Prediction: Rex Burkhead nearly gets a Heisman invite to New York as he goes on a late-season tear to make up for lost time

Bryan G.

Legends: Nebraska, Michigan State and Michigan in a three-way tie at 6-2 each. Nebraska comes out on top in the tie-breakers and goes to Indy.

Leaders: Wisconsin and Purdue tie at 5-3. Wisconsin gets to Indy for winning the head-to-head game. Ohio State finishes 6-2.

B1G Champ: Rematch of their Big Ten season opener. Nebraska’s defense looks much improved but struggles to contain Montee Ball for 3 1/2 quarters before pulling out a close one and Pelini gets his first league crown.

O Player of the year: Braxton Miller continues to carry the Ohio State offense through conference season and puts up huge numbers thanks in part to blow out wins against Indiana, Illinois and Penn State.

D Player of the year: Chris Borland racks up a ton of tackles and makes some big plays to help salvage the Badgers season.

Coach who will get canned: None. Kevin Wilson will be on the hot seat but two years at Indiana isn’t enough time to transform the culture. Kirk Ferentz’s buyout is too ridiculous to fire him as he’ll to play the inexperienced card.

Bold Prediction: Denard Robinson remains the starter but begins taking fewer snaps under center and more on the edge as a WR after a turnover heavy October.

Greg

Legends: Nebraska will lose at least one game but so will everyone else. It won’t be pretty but the Huskers go to Indy.

Leaders: I will have the guts to do it! Purdue goes to Indy by default. Ohio St will finish with the best division record but that pesky probation gets in the way.

B1G Champ: This will be a shocker but Nebraska. This is the year the boys from Lincoln bust out and come up smelling like roses.

O Player of the year: Braxton Miller will put up huge numbers in league play. He is a special talent and will give conference defenses fits.

D Player of the year: Jordan Kovacs in an off the board pick. The Michigan S/LB will put up big tackle numbers even though Michigan will struggle this year.

Coach who will get canned: It’s boring but I say none. I think Kirk Ferentz has the best chance but he seems to have teflon vest like Mike Vick.

Bold Prediction: Le’Veon Bell struggles the during conference play when defenses figure he out he is the only weapon on MSU.

There you have it folks. There are some interesting predictions from the staff on the upcoming B1G year. What are your thoughts? Sound off in the comments.
