Despite the tragic shootings in Aurora, CO this past Friday, The Dark Knight Rises earned just under $161 million in its opening weekend. This is the third-best debut of all-time (behind The Avengers and Deathly Hallows-Part 2) and the best ever for a 2-D movie.
