Huskers Depth Chart Released

Nebraska released their 1st depth chart of the year today and as with any depth chart this time of year you have to take this one with a grain of salt. Younger players could unseat upper classmen and walk-ons could break out.

One of the more interesting battles coming out of Spring ball was for the starting corner position opposite Andrew Green. As you can see from the depth chart it looks like the coaches are still undecided as Josh Mitchell, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, and Ciante Evans are all listed as co-starters.

It’s also interesting to note that Ron Kellogg III and hot-shot freshman Tommy Armstrong are both listed as Taylor’s back-up.  Even though I don’t agree with it, I expect Armstrong to be redshirted unless Taylor goes down or completely implodes early in the season.

Finally, my head exploded when I saw this:

WR A 6 Tim Marlowe, 5-10, 175, Sr. -OR-
10 Jamal Turner, 6-1, 185, So.
88 Tyler Evans, 6-1, 200, So.

and this:

KOR 8 Ameer Adbullah, 5-9, 185, So.
6 Tim Marlowe, 5-10, 175, Sr.
80 Kenny Bell, 6-1, 185, So.
10 Jamal Turner, 6-1, 185, So.
5 Braylon Heard, 5-11, 185, So.

Speed demon

Timmy being listed at number one at wideout I can live with for this week but he shouldn’t be even in the same conversation as the other guys listed on the kickoff man depth chart. He’s basically only slightly better than Santino Panico.  If the Blackshirts really are improved this year hopefully we don’t have to worry about returning too many kicks.
