Hits & Botches: Raw 10/12

Honestly if WWE drew a 1.1 rating tonight (it won’t) I wouldn’t blame a single person for not watching this. Tonight has been a constant struggle for me to pay attention…and it’s been a losing battle. I’ve had to rewind back several spots because I simply zoned out.

There is a lot WWE lacks but it isn’t talent, so why is it they can’t put together a solid hour of television? I get that three hours on top of the other shows is a lot for the writers to put together. If we split up ever good moment from the entire week of WWE television I’m not sure it’s even a solid hour.

John Cena is the only constant and he is gone soon for an extended period of time…so then what? Do we see the pussification of Seth Rollins continue? The de-push of Cesaro blaze on or the lost in the shuffle IC Championship run of Kevin Owens.

No I know what we can look forward to….seeing WWE shove New Day down our throats till we actually get tired of them.

On the bright side…no more Rusev & Summer Rae love angle!

Opening Segment: Randy Orton & Dean Ambrose vs New Day- Hit
Let’s be honest with ourselves New Day saved this segment from getting the CM Punk chant treatment. Hell even with their underrated pop culture references and classic digs at Randy Orton’s history of being a groupie the segment missed the pop that an opening segment should have.

Orton might be one of the best performers WWE has and yet he hasn’t been used correctly for years? Pairing him with Dean Ambrose to take on the Wyatt Family at the Hell in the Cell event is boring…I get its most likely going to set up Ambrose vs Orton but do that on TV instead of throwing them in filler matches and making the big event feel like what we use to get on Raw.

New Day is still the greatest thing WWE has completely ruined yet, but just give it time.

Naomi vs Nikki Bella-Botch
Holy shit is this just getting silly…We all know what the Chicago crowd is so why set it up for failure? They didn’t just do this with this match, but a few of them tonight and I’m still trying to figure out why?

Naomi and Nikki both are solid in-ring talent, both have improved drastically from when they joined the company but right now no one wants to see them wrestle one another. They want Sasha, Becky, Paige and to a degree Charlotte…but they most certainly don’t want Naomi vs Nikki.

Also WWE you aren’t in on it…having Brie join in the chant “We Want Sasha!” doesn’t work. Make Sasha larger than Team Bad…it won’t be hard since she
already is, but please don’t make it seem like you did it.

Paige Backstage Segment: Botch
I hate these silly Payday spots…but love Paige.

US Open Challenge: John Cena vs Dolph Ziggler: Hit
Hands down this was the best match of the night and the only moment that I can say I was truly in tune with what was going on. When I heard Ziggler’s music hit sure I groaned, but I quickly changed my tune.

Ziggler has gotten almost as stale as people say Cena has gotten. Both men could use some time off, but if this is any indication of what their match at Hell in the Cell will be I’m on board and ready to take the trip.

The Dudley Boys vs The Ascension: Botch
Hey remember when WWE wanted us to take The Ascension serious? Yeah, that lasted long. I get that they need to have the Dudleys look strong but this match really just did nothing for me tonight, maybe on a different night I would have viewed it differently, but Raw was just so bland that this fell right into the dumpster with the rest of the show.

Neville & Cesaro vs Sheamus & King Barrett: Botch
Hey look it’s another tag match being thrown right into the dumpster! Sheamus is boring…Barrett’s character hasn’t made sense in about a year and Neville & Cesaro might be the next thrown together tag team that forces Vince to put them on TV more than he would ever like to.

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman: Botch
This match never stood a chance….From Reign’s way too long promo to the fact Strowman shouldn’t be competing in singles matches yet.

At this point I’ve given up on Raw nothing is going to pull me back in and struggling to watch Strowman wrestle really makes you wonder where you are in your life.

Honestly I started to wonder why someone like Jack Swagger isn’t on Raw anymore but we have to sit through a Strowman match.

Rusev vs Ryback: Botch
FFS this is at the point where I never want to watch the product again. I’ve gone from disliking the show to just straight hate watching it. Ryback vs Rusev makes zero sense to me, expect for the fact that they seemed like they needed to have Rusev out there to put over his engagement to Lana and throw away the entire Summer Rae/Lana storyline from this summer.

Why? I’m not sure why they did this, but it didn’t help Raw’s case.

Kevin Owens vs Kalisto w/Sin Cara II: Hit
Kevin Owens is gold…the guy does everything and does it well. He continues to keep the Sami Zayn feud alive via Twitter and put on some of the better matches on Raw week in and week out. This wasn’t a five star match by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn’t need to be either. Owens is entertaining an in a valley a shadows any bright light is a positive thing.

Brie Bella & Alicia Fox vs Charlotte & Becky Lynch: Botch
Can we just hit the reset button on this whole divas revolution? You would think they’d have learned from their mistakes by now…given that they’ve made so many so far.

At this point I feel like the two old men in the balcony on the Muppet Show. I’m hating everything and it’s starting to become the norm.

Lumberjack Match: Kane vs Seth Rollins: Hit
Tonight was uninspired…bad storytelling and honestly it was the same old stuff….This demon Kane however is some old stuff that is actually entertaining to me. What’s not is the TNA esque show ending brawl that we fell victim to, but what do you expect from a lumberjack match.

I’m still on the fence about how Seth Rollins has been booked but honestly that was on the bottom of my “What’s Wrong with This Show” list.
