Game Ball – Best Performance of Week 1

This week’s game ball in college football goes to…..

#21 Texas A&M’s Kenny Hill.  Hill went 44/60 with 511 yards passing en route to A&M’s upset over #9 South Carolina on Thursday night.  He threw 3 TDs and no interceptions.  The post-Manziel era seems to be nothing to worry about, as many suspected after the Heisman Trophy winner moved on to the NFL.  The sophomore looked very impressive and quite confident while breaking the single game passing record at A&M.

Honorable mentions:

Ameer Abdullah – In Nebraska’s season debut against Florida Atlantic, Abdullah led the offense with 232 yards and a TD on 21 carries, an 11 yard average.  Nebraska won the game 55-7 and Nebraska set a new Big 10 yardage record with 784 yards.

Conner Cook – Though Cook only threw the ball 13 times against Jacksonville St., he completed 12 of those passes for 285 yards and 3 TDs.  #8 Michigan St. beat Jacksonville St. 45-7 in their season debut.

Todd Gurley – In their opener against Clemson, Gurley carried the ball 15 times for 198 yards and 3 TDs, showing off a 13.2 yard average.  #12 Georgia dismantled #16 Clemson with a final score of 45-21.

Cody Kessler – In #15 USC’s game against Fresno State, Kessler completed 25 of 37 for 394 yards and 4 TDs.  USC won the game 52-13.
