Game Ball – Best Performance of Week 2

This week’s game ball in college football goes to…..

#3 Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.  Against #7 Michigan St., Oregon was playing in arguably the most difficult game of the weekend, with many other top teams playing cupcakes.  Against MSU’s strong defense, Mariota went 17 of 28 for 318 yards and 3 TDs.  He also had a 42 yards on the ground.  Mariota’s performance in the 46-27 victory over MSU solidified his place as a very serious contender in the running for the Heisman Trophy.

Honorable Mentions:

#4 Oklahoma’s Sterling Shepard had 8 receptions for 177 yards and 1 TD in OU’s 52-7 victory over Tulsa.

#5 Auburn’s Cameron Artis-Payne.  Tre Mason’s replacement carried the rock 16 times for 112 yards and 3 TDs against San Jose St.

#9 Texas A&M’s Kenny “Trill” Hill followed up last week’s game ball winning performance with another bang up job.  He went 17/26 for 283 and 4 TDs.  And he gave way to the backup in the 3rd quarter.  Granted, it was against Lamer, but still…

#10 Baylor had co-honorable mention finishers this week in their game against Northwestern St.  QB Seth Russell went 16/25 for 438 yards and 5 TDs.  3 of those TDs went to KD Cannon, who had 6 total catches for 223 yards.  Oh yeah, all 3 of his TDs were in the 1st quarter.

#12 LSU WR Travin Dural only had 3 receptions on the day.  But all 3 went for  TDs with his 140 receiving yards in LSU’s slaughter of Sam Houston St.
