Different strokes for different folks is all you can say about this one.
Back in my playing days I tried to get in my “zone” before each game by clearing my head, separating myself from my teammates and bumping mostly Hip-Hop and Rock music. That’s not very different from what four-star defensive back Marcus McWilson does for a pre-game ritual except for what he’s bumping on his IPod.
When I was 13, I had my first love
There was nobody that compared to my baby
And nobody came between us, no one could ever come above
She had me going crazy, oh I was star-struck,
She woke me up daily, don’t need no Starbucks(Woo! )
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few years you’ll recognize that lyric from Justin Bieber’s “Baby”. That’s right. McWilson gets pumped up for each game by listening to the Biebs. “I play better when I hear Bieber. That’s just how it is,” says McWilson. “That’s right, I said it. I listen to his song ‘Baby’ and I love it. I know I’ll get a lot of flack over this, but that’s just my thing. I’ve gotta do it. I just don’t feel right if I don’t hear it before the game.”
If he thinks the ribbing he gets from his high school teammates is bad, just wait until he gets to college and opposing teams and fans get a hold of this news. Especially if the “Blackshirts” continue to rolled at historic levels under Bo Pelini.
