Ever since RGIII won the Heisman Trophy it seems like he’s been on a non-stop media push and under intense scrutiny.  Somehow in between all the interviews, commercials and studying of the Redskin’s playbook he found a way to sit down with former Nebraska Cornhusker Defensive End Adam Carriker to discuss spears and Russian Leg Sweeps.

Carriker hosts “4th and Pain“, a pro wrestling radio show believed to be the first show of it’s kind hosted by an NFL player.

In the interview, RGIII discusses how Goldberg was his favorite wrestler and how he was a big fan of The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.

“I was a huge Goldberg fan when he had that long winning streak, which I think was ended by Kevin Nash when he was fighting for the title. I was a huge fan of Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin. One of my earliest memories was [Michaels] beating The Rock early in his career, and then Shawn Michaels got beat by Stone Cold, which kind of ended the first part of his career, with that Stone Cold Stunner.”

“My favorite wrestler of all time is definitely Goldberg, with Shawn Michaels being a close second. The Spear, the Jackhammer, those are two moves that no one could replicate the way that he did ‘em. It was exciting to watch.”

As a wrestling fan myself (been watching non-stop since I was about 6 or 7) I’m always excited when athletes discuss pro wrestling RGIII’s memory fails him here. The Rock and HBK never wrestled. In fact, it’s one of the most commonly brought up Dream Matches but I digress. Here’s hoping RGIII can have a Y2J type debut in the NFL and he raises Washington from “jobber” status.
