Derrick Rose: By The Numbers

Horrible, horrible news coming out of the NBA world tonight. Derrick Rose tore his meniscus once again and may be out for the season

As most of you remember, he signed a 5year/$94.8 million contract extension in 2011. Before that contract Derrick Rose was by far one of the best players on the planet. He put up All-Star type numbers, lead the Bulls to the playoffs in 3 straight seasons, only missed 3 games and won the MVP award in the 2010-2011 season.

Ever since that contract was signed, the D-Rose of old went missing. He played in a total of 95 games, battled season ending injuries in 3 straight seasons, put up average numbers and didn’t play in one playoff game.

To break down what he’s made in the past 3 yeas: 3seasons + 3 injuries + 95 games = $52,898,064.

It’s crazy to think he’s played the equivalent to a season and a couple of playoff games in the past 3 years and has made over $50million. Not to mention he’s still owed over $40million in the next 2 seasons.

It’s sad to say this but we’ve already seen the best basketball Derrick Rose has to offer. From this point on it seems like his career is going to slowly decline until he’s another Brandon Roy or Penny Hardaway. Derrick Rose could have easily been one of the best point guards in the history of the game if his knees held up. It’s horrible to know that his legacy is going to be a lot of “what ifs”

I hope Derrick Rose bounces back but it doesn’t look too promising.
