To ensure I don’t pull a Bill Simmons and forget to post a mailbag months at a time, let’s keep rolling with this every other week thing we got going on.
In this edition of the Cleats, Rhymes & Life mailbag I answer your questions regarding the NBA Finals, Netflix recommendations, ROH’s big move to Destination America, and more. As usual, before we dive into any of that it’s time for my latest RECKLESS POWER RANKINGS.
I present to you the top 5 most attractive commercial actresses* off the top of my head:
- Alison Brie (Smirnoff)
- Hannah Davis (DIRECTV)
- Katrina Begin (M&Ms)
- Amy Paffrath (Dr. Pepper)
- Milana Vayntrub (AT&T) – she was on the fringe until I remembered she once dressed up as the Ultimate F’n Warrior…
*You’d think I’d refrain from including models and legitimate actresses on this list, but it’s my list and I can do as I please. Plus, this was all off the top of my head.
Disagree with my list? Let me know in the comments sections.
On to the mailbag!
Netflix recommendations: Whatcha got? (Dave via email)
I don’t have time to check out a ton of movies and I just recently started using the streaming service about a month ago thanks to a friend lending me his password (Big ups, Edge!), but if I had to recommend one show to check out it’d be The Inbetweeners.
It’s a British comedy in the same vein as Workaholics, Always Sunny, and The League. It’s pretty raunchy and you’ll surely pick up some slang from across the pond. Is that a good enough answer, ya wanker?
How does Destination America’s decision to pick up ROH programming affect TNA’s fortunes? (satwach via email)
— No Coast Bias (@NoCoastBias) May 21, 2015
Our Twitter account said it best, but this move is basically the final nail in the coffin for TNA. There were already rumors swirling that Destination America was going to drop TNA when their contract ran out, but having the more respected and stable ROH promotion sign on as a lead-in to the much-maligned program on Wednesday nights obviously doesn’t bode well for Dixie’s bunch.
It’s going to make for a VERY interesting dynamic as TNA’s future is partly contingent on ROH’s show succeeding as a lead-in, so I’m fully expecting the TNA team to begrudgingly promote their competition. Weird.
What’s also going to be a juicy development is how the WWE handles Samoa Joe’s appearances as his current agreement allows him to take some independent dates. With ROH being shown nationally now, I’m going to assume the ‘E will make Joe choose between working in NXT and ROH.
Finally, how stacked is Wednesday going to be for rasslin fans? You’ll have ROH, NXT, TNA and Lucha Underground on the same night.
Other than Bron or Chef Curry who has the best chance at winning Finals MVP??? (Erikka via email)
Before Klay Thompson got Tiger Knee’d in the head and Kyrie Irving messed up his ankle they would have been the obvious choices, but I’m going to say Harrison Barnes.
He was clutch in the Warriors’ closeout game against Houston and I can totally see him going all 2013 NBA Finals Danny Green on the Cavaliers.
Give me your top 5 lyricists of all time (@DannyFresh421 via Twitter)
For real though, I’m going with the following (no particular order):
- Black Thought
- Notorious BIG
This isn’t necessarily my list of favorite rappers nor is it my top five MCs of all-time. This is strictly from a lyrics standpoint.
Why did Kobe have to hit it raw? (@arewhyayeend)
Nice question, Jadakiss. My question to you is why not?
