Remember how much of an upset we all assumed the Appalachian State win was over Michigan? We were all asking how these little FBS schools could come into the big time, against teams in BCS conferences, and win? Fact is that even back in 2007, the year Appalachian State “shocked the world,” there were at least eight FCS wins that year. Last season there were at least six, and this season, in week one, we already had five FCS wins over FBS programs:
1. McNeese State 27, Middle Tennessee 21
2. Eastern Washington 20, Idaho 3
3. Youngstown State 31, Pittsburgh 17
4. Tennessee – Martin 20, Memphis 17
5. Texas State 30, Houston 13 (Just last year Houston was a 13-1 team)
And five were within a touchdown:
1. Florida Atlantic 7, Wagner 3
2. Maryland 7, William & Mary 6
3. Indiana 24, Indiana State 17,
4. Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21
5. Wake Forest 20, Liberty 17
Teams on notice this week include Minnesota (vs. New Hampshire), Miami – OH (vs. Southern Illinois), Eastern Michigan (vs. Illinois State), Colorado (vs. Sacramento State), and Colorado State (vs. North Dakota State, who is the defending FCS Champions and are 4-2 against FBS schools since 2007).

Both UTSA and South Alabama are FBS…
